I’m Simon Patchett, and I teach ICT while also leading the Technology faculty at Valley State College. I’m passionate about helping students understand the digital world they live in and giving them the skills to confidently create, problem-solve, and innovate using technology. In my classes, I focus on practical, hands-on learning—whether that’s coding, digital design, cybersecurity basics, or exploring emerging technologies through a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach.

As Head of Technology, I oversee a wide range of subject areas including ICT, Digital Technologies, Hard Materials Technology, and Food Technology. I enjoy seeing students move between designing on screen and building in the workshop or kitchen, turning creative ideas into real, tangible outcomes. Through a strong STEAM focus, my goal is to help students develop practical skills, critical thinking, and creativity so they can confidently tackle real-world challenges and explore future pathways in technology, design, and innovation.
