Hello I’m Betty Gulliver, and I teach English while also leading the Languages faculty at Valley State College. I’ve always been passionate about the power of words—how they can inform, inspire, and connect people across cultures. In my English classes, I encourage students to read widely, think critically, and express themselves with clarity and confidence, whether in writing, speaking, or discussion.
As Head of Languages, I also support the teaching of additional languages across the college, helping students develop communication skills that open doors to new perspectives and opportunities. I believe language learning is about more than grammar and vocabulary—it’s about understanding people and cultures. I enjoy working with staff and students to build a program that celebrates curiosity, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning.
